Carrying on a Legacy of Supporting Farmers

Learn how second-generation farm equipment business owners are supporting local farmers with help from Farm Credit Mid-America.

// Cooperative Stories, Customer Stories

Larry Hobbs started his farm equipment business, Hobbs Farm Implement, as a secondary source of income after his farming operation went through some tough times. He quickly fell in love with refurbishing used machinery as well as the relationships he developed along the way, and eventually passed that passion on to his two sons, Dewayne and Shannon.

What started as a two-man business has grown into a staple of the farming industry in Colt, Arkansas, selling everything from tractors to tillage equipment, and much more. Dewayne and Shannon now focus on carrying on Larry’s legacy of supporting farmers and treating everyone with respect. And for many years, they’ve done so in partnership with Farm Credit Mid-America.

“Working with the cooperative is simple,” Shannon said. “They are just a good, good group of people and we’ve been able to depend on them through the good times and the bad.”

The Hobbs brothers look forward to passing the business down to future generations to continue supporting agriculture for many years to come. Check out their video below to learn more about their story.
