// Community News, Cooperative Stories

Farm Credit Mid-America is developing the next generation of agricultural leaders; this year with 45 college students.

Through the Scholars Program, each student receives a $5,000 scholarship over two years, plus access to immersive educational experiences and career-shaping connections.

Why it matters: Today’s agriculture needs bold, informed voices and this program equips students with the tools, confidence and community to lead the industry forward.

What’s new: In 2024, the program expanded to offer scholarship opportunities for even more students. Scholars also visited Washington, D.C., for a deep dive into ag policy and how the industry collaborates to influence decisions and advocate nationally. This trip marked the completion for the 2024 students, showcasing the program's multi-year commitment to their growth.

Meanwhile, the 2025 group convened at Farm Credit Mid-America’s Louisville office to sharpen personal branding and communication skills through interactive workshops. “All of the workshops taught me many valuable professional and personal skills I need to succeed as I enter into my career,” said one Scholar.

Beyond the classroom: The Scholars form lasting bonds and networks through shared experiences, mentorship and time with Farm Credit Mid-America team members. From etiquette classes to community service, every moment is designed to build purpose and connection. “I’ve never received a scholarship that’s invested in me as much as this one,” said a graduating Scholar. “The leadership courses were great, but nothing tops the connections and relationships I’ve made over the past two years.”

The big picture: While there’s diversity of backgrounds and interests, every participant shares a common thread: an unwavering desire to secure and advance the future of agriculture. The Farm Credit Mid-America Scholars program is more than just a scholarship; it’s a multi-year investment in students’ futures and the future of agriculture.
