They also have 800 owned acres under pivot in Nebraska, which is part of a long-term strategy to diversify the operation and position the family for future investment opportunities. Sean and his wife, Rachel, operate Stoutsville Seed Shed, a full-service seed and agronomy business providing seed, seed treatment, precision agriculture, nutrition and drone services to area growers. Biographical Information

I am a fourth-generation farmer from Stoutsville, Ohio, where my wife, Rachel, and I own and operate Rittinger Farms LLC and Stoutsville Seed Shed. My passion for agriculture began in childhood, spending every available moment on my grandparents’ farm and learning the values of hard work, stewardship and resilience. Growing up during the challenges of the 1980s farm economy shaped my early understanding of risk and responsibility in agriculture. After earning a degree in Agribusiness and Applied Economics from The Ohio State University, I began my career in the seed industry, building strong relationships with farmers across my home territory and gaining a deep understanding of agronomy and business management.

Rachel also brings deep agricultural roots to our operation. Raised on her family’s farm in Northwest Ohio, she developed a strong foundation in agricultural leadership through her work for the Executive Vice President of the Ohio Farm Bureau. Her experience in policy, advocacy, and organizational leadership strengthened her commitment to rural communities before she chose to return home to focus on our family, the farm and the growth of Stoutsville Seed Shed.

In 2006, we purchased our first 35-acre farm and began building our family operation. We completed a 10-year buyout of my father’s machinery and, in 2018, purchased the farm where I was born and raised. We are raising our three children—Christian, Grant and Sylvie—with the hope they may become fifth-generation farmers.

Why do you want to serve on the Farm Credit Mid-America Board?

Farm Credit Mid-America has been a steady partner throughout every stage of my farming career, and I want to help ensure that same stability and trust are available to the next generation. Agriculture is changing quickly, operations are more complex, margins are tighter, and families are navigating transitions that require both financial expertise and genuine understanding. I believe Farm Credit Mid-America is at its best when it blends strong financial tools with personal relationships that honor the realities of rural life.

I want to serve on the Board to help strengthen that balance. My goal is to support a culture where loan officers and financial teams feel valued, stay long-term, and build the kind of relationships that make Farm Credit Mid-America a true partner, not just a lender. I want to help keep Farm Credit Mid-America deeply rooted in our communities, responsive to customer needs, and committed to helping farmers succeed for generations to come.
